With more than 20 years of operations and program management experience, April brings a wealth of nonprofit experience to the board. She has served on the National Parent Teacher Association’s (PTA) Board of Directors as a staff liaison and member of their Arts & Culture Committee.
As a PTA employee, April spearheaded the organization’s flagship arts program, Reflections, reaching more than 500,000 student participants each year! While at National PTA, she was instrumental in managing programs and developing additional programs and material for corporate sponsorship.
April’s work experience includes Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) in Washington, DC. An employee of their Development Department, April assisted with the organization’s Employee Giving Campaign and served on the DC RIF Steering Committee which was responsible for planning RIF events and providing books for children throughout the Nation’s Capital. April has served as a commissioner on the Howard County Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission, and as the Commission’s Program Chair. She has worked for Columbia Association as a Community Organizer and for the Community Foundation of Howard County as their Office Administrator. April is currently employed at Columbia Academy where she organizes more than 300 enrichment experiences for the company’s 3 preschools and elementary & middle school. April studied Journalism at Delaware State University. She resides in Columbia, MD with her family.
